Sometimes a post-fight press conference is a lonely, quiet place for reporters to work. But with a chance to ask Manny Pacquiao questions, this one was overflowing. After about 40 minutes of promoter Bob Arum trying to conduct a mostly one-man backstage show with the help of HBO executive Mark Taffet, Arum finally introduced “the greatest boxer that I’ve ever seen.” On queue walks in the smiling winner, Manny Pacquiao, but with a bruised, puffy and lightly cut face greeting the media.

That’s something not always seen after a Pacquiao fight. But this one was different.

“It’s a really hard fight, this is the hardest fight in my boxing career,” Pacquiao said. “Margarito is really tough and strong… I feel it, he’s big, bigger than me.”

Arum said Antonio Margarito would not attend the press conference due to his injuries. “Because of the cuts to the eye he has to go straight to the hospital.” No one represented Margarito at the post-fight press conference.
